No Rustom in city's single screens, it's only Mohenjo Daro

It’s final now -- Rustom will not be shown at any of the single screens in the city. A few months ago, the theatre owners had signed a deal with Disney UTV, which binds them contractually to screen only Mohenjo Daro. Though the single-screen owners want to allot 2 shows each to both Mohenjo Daro and Rustom, the production company has sternly reminded them of the contract.

It’s final now -- Rustom will not be shown at any of the single screens in the city. A few months ago, the theatre owners had signed a deal with Disney UTV, which binds them contractually to screen only Mohenjo Daro.

In fact, SpotboyE.com told you yesterday about the strange predicament single-screen owners have found themselves in. They had signed a deal with Disney UTV, agreeing to allot all 4 shows to their productions -- Baaghi, Mohenjo Daro and Dangal -- whenever these 3 films are released (WAR: Hrithik's Mohenjo Daro uses MUSCLE POWER to undermine Akshay's Rustom, August 10). Back then, they had no idea Rustom -- another big-ticket film -- will release on the same day.

Though the single-screen owners want to allot 2 shows each to both Mohenjo Daro and Rustom, the production company has sternly reminded them of the contract.

SpotboyE.com has it that a second meeting happened between Rustom distributors and Disney UTV an hour ago, but in vain. Rahul Aksar, who distributes the Akshay Kumar-starrer in Mumbai and Pune, had met them yesterday as well, with  zero result.

Single-screen owners, who had not opened the advance bookings of Mohenjo Daro hoping they might also be able to screen Rustom, have finally given up. We have it that a short while ago, they opened the advance booking for Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjo Daro, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in the lead.

There were rumours that some theatre owners might play rebels, but from what we hear, Disney UTV’s will has prevailed.
