The governments of 6 major states are protesting against
the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh,
Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat have opposed to the movie’s
release. If that happens, Padmavati, mounted on a budget of about Rs 180 crore,
could struggle to register a profit at cinemas.

In fact, if a ban in these 6 states does come through, it’s not wrong to imagine, that Padmavati will have to put up a brave and bloody fight to even recover its production cost.
And to register a hit, Padmavati will have to collect Rs 360 crore at ticket windows and through the sale of satellite rights. It’s not easy; it will amount to breaking the back of the beast.
