Prithviraj: Makers Of Akshay Kumar Starrer Face Backlash From Karni Sena As They Demand A Title Change
The Karni Sena has raised objections over Akshay Kumar starrer Prithviraj over the film’s title. Akshay Kumar had announced the upcoming film ‘Prithviraj’ in 2019, and it is based on the life of the great king Rajput Prithviraj Chauhan. The makers of the film are now facing opposition and backlash from the Karni Sena, as the organization has raised an objection over the title of the film, and have also warned makers of consequences if they fail to listen to their advice. The Karni Sena had earlier raised objections to films such as Manikarnika- The Queen Of Jhansi, Padmaavat, Article 15.

According to a report in Times Of India, filmmaker Surjeet Singh Rathore, President of the Youth Wing of the Karni Sena said that they want the title of the film to be changed to Prithviraj Chauhan’s full name. “How can they keep the title of the film as just ‘Prithviraj’ when the film is based on the great Prithviraj Chauhan? We want the title to be changed to his full name and give respect to him,” he said, as quoted by TOI.

Further, they have demanded that the film has to be screened for them before its release. Failing to change the title, and take their advice, they warned of consequences. “If they don’t listen to our advice they will have to face the consequences. What happened to Sanjay Leela Bhansali during ‘Padmaavat’, the makers of this film will have to be prepared for it, too.”


For the unversed, in 2016, Padmaavat faced backlash from Karni Sena. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Deepika Padukone also reportedly faced threats during the release, and several protests were led. The film title was eventually changed from Padmavati to Padmaavat.

Manushi Chhillar will also be seen in Prithviraj, and she will play the role of Prithviraj Chauhan’s wife Samyukta. The film has been helmed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Aditya Chopra.
