Priyanka Chopra Opens Up On #MeToo Movement, Says, “Nobody Can Shut Us Down Now”
After hitting Hollywood, the #MeToo movement struck Bollywood industry and we saw several women open up on their horrendous experiences of sexual misdemeanour. Many masks were uncovered and many industry biggies lost out on work due to the allegations.

Now, Priyanka Chopra addresses the movement that has brought about a change in the industry for good. At the 10th Annual Women In The World Summit 2019, during her interaction with Tina Brown, the actress speaks up on the movement and women empowerment. Say Peecee, “Now because of the support we are giving each other, people don't have the power to shut us down. We always had a voice. Just nobody heard us. Now because of the support we are giving each other, nobody can shut us down. And that's an incredibly powerful thing to see. Now if I have a story I don't feel I am alone anymore - and I am not ashamed of it.’

When she was asked if she has ever faced it, the actress replies, “Everybody in this room has probably faced one because it had become a norm with women.” Priyanka also talks about how South Asian actors are stereotyped and that she won’t accept stereotypical roles. “I am Indian. I don’t need my parts to justify why I can be an actor. And it would take me doing that to become mainstream enough now to actually play parts where I am my own ethnicity. And I will not be considered as a niche actor, or an actor who can only do that.”
