Priyanka Chopra Replies To A Twitter User About US Pledging Help For India’s COVID Fight; Says ‘No One Is Safe Until Everyone Is Safe’
As the second wave of COVID-19 has hit India, Priyanka Chopra has been using her social media might to seek vaccines for the country. Yesterday, Priyanka Chopra appealed to US President Joe Biden and other officials for help. She tweeted, “My heart breaks. India is suffering from COVID19 & the US has ordered 550M more vaccines than needed @POTUS @WHCOS @SecBlinken @JakeSullivan46 Thx for sharing AstraZeneca worldwide, but the situation in my country is critical. Will you urgently share vaccines w/ India? #vaxlive.” Now, as US President Joe Biden pledged his support for India’s fight against Covid-19, Priyanka tweeted that she was thankful that the US and other countries answered the call of India to send urgent medical assistance.

In her note, Priyanka Chopra tweeted that even though India is the world’s biggest vaccine producer, it has only been able to provide vaccine doses for less than 10 percent of the population, and only 1.6 percent has been fully vaccinated with 2 doses. On the other hand, she wrote that the US ordered 550 million doses more than the needs of its population. She then urged the wealthy nations to share vaccine doses with those who are in urgent need. While commenting on this, one Twitter user asked her, “Do you think the US ordered more than needed just in case and is using it for back up ahd that’s why they aren’t sharing or do you believe either way it’s great to help when you can ?”

Priyanka Chopra replied that it is great to help when one can, and that it is important for everyone to get vaccinated as no one is safe until everyone is safe. “Yes of course its great to help when you can and more importantly no one is safe until everyone is safe… which basically means everyone needs to be vaccinated."

Another social media user tweeted that more than vaccines, people are in need of hospital beds, ventilators at the moment, and asked her to shift her focus to the things urgently required right now. Priyanka replied to the user with, “Yes we need all of these tools to save lives. The only way to stop the spread of the virus in India is by building collective immunity through vaccines.”
