Priyanka Chopra might be winning laurels overseas but the members of Congress party in Gauwahati have demanded that the actress be removed as the brand ambassador for Assam Tourism. As per reports, Congress members Rupjyoti Kurmi, MLA from Mariani, Roseline Tirkey, MLA from Sarupathar, and Nandita Das, MLA from Boko are the ones to raise an objection on Priyanka’s sartorial choices.
Priyanka Chopra In Assam Tourism Calendar
The opposition says that Priyanka Chopra appears with minimal clothes in most print ads and in a calendar for Assam Tourism. They believe her pictures bring a bad name to the state of Assam.
However, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Chairman of Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has slammed the opposition and said none of Priyanka’s pictures on the calendar are revealing. “The calendar was made to promote Assam internationally. It has also been sent to prominent international tour operators and dignitaries. Priyanka Chopra is an international figure and her presentation in the calendar has not diminished Assam’s culture in any way,” told a poplar Gauwahati based website. (Watch Priyanka's ad below)
As of now, Priyanka Chopra is shooting for the third instalment of Quantico. She was recently in the news for spilling the beans on her personal life during an interview with a popular glossy. She said, “The heartache? No, I come back to Mumbai every three minutes. I need an excuse, please bring me back. All that doesn’t make a difference, I don’t run away from my problems. I believe in facing them. So, if your heart hurts, you have to look into what is causing you heartache. The day it stops hurting is when you’ll be over with it.”
Coming back to the news of Priyanka being slammed for her pictures in the Assam Tourism Calendar, only time will tell if the actress will be let go as the brand ambassador of Assam Tourism.
