Raksha Bandhan is a day to celebrate the bond that exists between brothers and sisters. The sisters tie a rakhi to her brother’s wrist, in return for the promise of love and protection from her brother. This is how the festival started off, but today, instead of just celebrating this brother-sister bond, it has become a day for celebrating the sibling bond. The essence remains the same.
Actress Pranutan Bahl loves her sister Krishaa to the end of the world, and even though both sisters don’t have a brother to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with, they do it with each other with as much gusto. “We have a very simple celebration at home each year. We bring in some mithai and dress up in simple Indian clothes. We tie rakhis to each other and give each other small gifts. When we were younger that gift used to be Cadbury celebrations, but with time, the gifts have also evolved,” she smiles.
Speaking about her relationship with her sister, Pranutan shares, “My relationship with Krishaa is the most important relationship in my life. She is my life and I love her the most in the world. Fortunately, we get along really well and keep pulling each other’s legs. We keep jumping on each other and sometimes randomly when she’d be walking, I would just trouble her or hug her from the back. We tease each other a lot but we love each other as much as well. She is the best.”
