Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma made it to the headlines lately when he opened up about moving his base from Mumbai. The Bollywood director, who has been very vocal about many public issues on social media platforms, mentioned that he is moving to Goa permanently. But, RGV also revealed that he will be travelling to the big city for work purposes. Now, as per the latest reports, Ram Gopal Varma has allegedly not paid artistes, technicians and workers their dues, for working on his recent project.

According to a report in the IndianExpress, Ram Gopal Varma has been served with legal notice Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) over non-payment of dues. The report stated that FWICE has decided that none of its 32 unions will work with the filmmaker. As per the report, RGV has allegedly not paid around Rs 1.25 crore to artistes, technicians and workers. Speaking of the ban, the report stated that the film body took the action after Ram Gopal Varma did not respond to the legal notice sent to him.

In his statement, FWICE President BN Tiwari said, “We also sent a letter to the Chief Minister of Goa on September 10, 2020, regarding this. We wanted Ram Gopal Varma to clear the dues of poor technicians, artistes and workers but he never did. Hence, we have decided to not work with him in the future. We have also notified Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA) and Producers Guild of India (GUILD), among other unions about this.”

Meanwhile, Tiwari revealed that the legal notice was sent to RGV on September 17, 2020. The association also alleged that although Varma was sent letters asking him to clear the dues, he refused to accept the delivery of letters. On the work front, RGV has film 12 0’clock in the pipeline. His film will feature Mithun Chakraborty.
