Ranbir Kapoor Associates With IPL But Not For Cricket

For some time now, speculations are rife that the trailer of the Sanjay Dutt biopic, Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor will release later this month. Now, according to mid-day, the makers are keen to release the first glimpse of the film at the Indian Premier League match on Tuesday, in the run-up to the scheduled game between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Fox Star Studios, the producers of the biopic, are on the verge of finalising the deal to launch the teaser on Cricket Live on Star Sports. The source also told the daily that the filmmakers are also eyeing the possibility of the trio launching the teaser at the Wankhede Stadium, the venue of the match, amidst spectators. A formal approval is on its way.

If things materialise as per plan, Rajkumar Hirani, Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt will talk about the film.

“The 7 4 - minute chat will be moderated by Rajkumar Hirani (the film’s director). While Ranbir Kapoor will talk about slipping into the character and the challenges they faced while shooting, Sanjay Dutt will speak about how he was surprised to see Ranbir’s transformation. Hirani will also shed light on how difficult it was to pen an engrossing script, especially since Sanjay’s life has been widely covered by the press. The officials at Fox Star have already started a dialogue with the channel for this. The idea is to ensure that the teaser reaches as many people across the country as possible, which explains the launch on the cricket pitch as well,” the source said.

The daily further reports that the project’s sneak peek will also be attached to the Hollywood biggie Avengers: Infinity War scheduled to release on April 27. Besides the teaser, the makers will release a series of video snippets as a run- up to the final trailer launch in the coming few weeks.
