Ranbir Kapoor Shares Animal Started ‘Healthy Conversations’ On ‘Toxic Masculinity’; Actor Opens up About Sandeep Reddy Vanga Directorial
Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has been enjoying the success of his last release Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial Animal. Despite being one of the highest-grossing films of 2023, Animal continues to be a trending topic of discussion amongst the internet users due to the graphic violence, disregard for its female characters, and promoting ‘toxic masculinity’. Known to be the one to never mince his words, he recently opened up about the hate surrounding the movie.

In a conversation with his co-stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and the host Anurag Bassi for Netflix India’s YouTube Channel, Ranbir credited the film for opening up a healthy conversation surrounding the ‘toxic masculinity’. He went on to share how cinemas are often used as a means to start a conversation about what is wrong in the society, explaining that if cinemas do not show things like these the society will never realise it. He added that as actors they need to be empathetic towards the characters that they portray. ALSO READ: Animal OTT Release Sparks Debate! The 41-year-old actor added, “But as an audience, you decide what's wrong. You can make a film on the wrong person and it should be made. Because if you don't make a film on them, society will never improve.” He went on to express that at the end of the movie, he and Bobby Deol’s character got “what they deserved.” ALSO READ: Animal OTT Release: Uncut Version Of Ranbir Kapoor's Film To Premiere On Republic Day - WATCH

Agreeing with his co-star’s thought process, Deol added that the movies show what is happening in the society, topics that aren’t always addressed but need to be. He shared, “It's showing you what is happening in the society and there are so many things we don't want to talk about. But we are actors and we're just getting an opportunity to play different characters. That's the fun of being an actor.”

Shedding light on the sequel of Animal, Animal Park, Ranbir revealed that the director has a few scenes ready which he has narrated to the actor. For those who don’t know, Ranbir Kapoor essays the role of Ranvijay Singh Balbir, a man who sets out on revenge after the attempted assassination on his father, played by Anil Kapoor. Bobby Deol played the role of the mute antagonist, Abrar Haque. Having released in theatres in December, the movie was recently released on the streaming platform Netflix.
