Raveena Tandon Reveals Shocking Truth About Female Journalists From The ’90s, Shares They Would Body-Shame And Humiliate Actress For Hero-Worship
Raveena Tandon who is set to make her digital debut with a crime-thriller series titled Aranyak, revealed being ‘at the mercy’ of journalists at a certain point in her acting career. The actress who marked her Bollywood debut in 1991 shared how female journalists back in the days used to write negative stories, just because of the personal vendetta they had for certain actresses. Followed by penning down some negative stories, the publication used to apologise but most of the time these would go unnoticed.

In conversation with Puja Talwar, she said, “You will be shocked to know that some of these women editors that I see today who are now probably not editors anymore but they walk around with this big badge of being feminists, unfortunately, those same women used to body-shame, humiliate and bring down another woman just because they were probably in love with a hero or hero-worship or the hero promised them the next big cover for their magazine.”

She continued, “They wouldn’t give a damn. And you were completely at their mercy. So if they didn’t like you, it was a personal vendetta that would happen, and you had no choice.” But now the actress feels social media has helped them a lot to connect directly with certain communities or a person. “That’s why sometimes I thank social media that today, we have a direct reach. If there is proof about something, ‘Here it is. This is exactly what happened, not what they are saying,” said the actress.

Speaking about how earlier these publications apologized it was barely noticed, she said, “Even if they had to apologise, it would be that one thin line below which nobody would even bother reading because once the headline was out and it was on the stands, it had villainised you completely.” ALSO READ: Raveena Tandon On Tip Tip Barsa Paani: Farah Khan Reveals The Actress Called Her Up Saying 'Katrina Kaif Is Looking So Good'
