Raveena Tandon reveals she adopted two daughters in the 90’s ‘quietly’ to avoid gossip from tabloids

Actress Raveena Tandon has opened up about 'quietly' adopting two daughters- Pooja and Chaya in the 90s. She revealed why she chose not to speak about it openly in public. In a recent interview, the Mohra actress admitted that she was scared of how tabloids would react to the news and whether she would be accused of having kids while still being unmarried. Raveena said, back then, it was that era of ‘tabloidism’ and ‘yellow dirty journalism.’
While speaking to RJ Siddharth Kannan, Raveena revealed that she decided to adopt daughters in an era where the hardcore writers who were just writing nasty stuff would have created a scandal out of anything. The actress mentioned that when she did adopt the girls, initially, she did not talk about them at all, till they passed their 10th standard. After that, her daughters started hanging out with her on her shoots. It was then when everyone started asking her, ‘Who are these girls?’ And I would start telling them this is how it is.”
The Aranyak star added, “You were so scared that even if you say something, what will these people make it out to be? Magazine wale bol denge ki isko secretly baby ho gaya, kiska baby hai (The magazines would say that I secretly had a baby and speculate about the father). It was that era. Itna gandh tha unke minds mein (Their minds were so filthy). Raveena Tandon adopted daughters Pooja and Chaya in 1995 when she was just 21 years old. Both are now married and have kids of their own.
