Rhea Chakraborty's Case Has A ‘Small Connection’ To Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death; NCB To Bombay HC-Reports
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)) arrested actor Rhea Chakraborty in connection to the drugs angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Before Rhea’s arrest, her house was raided by the NCB, which followed the arrest of her brother Showik Chakraborty, in some days. As Rhea and Showik are under judicial custody since their arrest and not granted bail until now, in a significant development in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, according to reports in Mumbai Mirror, NCB told Bombay High court that the case of the Chakraborty siblings has a ‘small connection’ to the actor’s death.

As per the report, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Anil Singh, who is appearing for the NCB made his submission during the bail hearings of Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Dipesh Sawant, Samuel Miranda and an alleged drug peddler. The report stated that ASG Anil Singh appearing for the agency told the Bombay High Court that the case in which Rhea, her brother Showik, and the other three that have been arrested have only a “small connection with the actor’s death.”

The report states that the bail hearing lasted for almost seven hours. Justice Sarang Kotwal reserved his judgement at the end of the hearing, says the report. Reportedly, the verdict by the court may decide the point that has been argued so far, by the accused that, except for the charge of ‘financing’ the drugs for SSR, the other charges applied are bailable and hence they should have been released on bail. The other point that was argued by the defence, represented by Advocates Taraq Sayed, Satish Maneshinde, Subodh Desai and Rajendra Rathod, was that the charge of financing has been incorrectly applied.

Meanwhile, the defence also argued that the accused cannot be charged with financing and conspiracy when the one for whom the drugs were meant to be bought for was not alive anymore, says the report. So far, the agency has arrested about 20 in regards to the case and questioned many Bollywood celebrities as well. Recently, Dharma Productions ex-staffer was arrested and remanded judicial custody till October 3.
