Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, after his two-year-long battle with cancer. The veteran actor breathed his last at a hospital in Mumbai and his millions of fans and friends from the film industry mourned the huge loss. His funeral took place that afternoon and owing to the Coronavirus lockdown imposed across the nation, only about 20 people were allowed to attend the funeral. Present for Rishi Kapoor’s last rites were Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan among others. Back in 2017, Rishi Kapoor had been furious with Bollywood’s younger generation for not having attended Vinod Khanna’s funeral and had said that he must be prepared for the same when he dies.

Rishi Kapoor had vented out his anger in his tweets, and he had written, “Shameful. Not ONE actor of this generation attended Vinod Khanna's funeral. And that too he has worked with them. Must learn to respect." He added, “Why this? Including mine and thereafter.When I die, I must be prepared.None will shoulder me. Very very angry with today's so called stars." After many pointed out to him about his son Ranbir Kapoor not being present as well, he wrote, “Yes it has been expressed earlier on social media my wife and Ranbir are out of the country. Would never had been reason not to be there.”

He also hit back at all those stars that he saw at Priyanka Chopra’s bash one night before, but were not present at the funeral. “Angry. Met so many chamcha people last night at Priyanka Chopra's do last night. Few at Vinod's. So fu*kn transparent. So angry with them,” he wrote.


Rishi Kapoor’s ashes were immersed in the Banganga tank, in Mumbai, and Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor were seen performing pooja for the late actor.
