Sajid Khan On Adopting Late Brother Wajid Khan’s Name: Don’t Want People To Call Me Sajid Khan, I Have Adopted Wajid As My Surname’

Music composer Sajid Khan, of the Sajid-Wajid duo opened up about adopting his late brother Wajid Khan’s last name. The music composer also revealed how Salman Khan has been a great support to him. Sajid Khan and his late brother Wajid Khan, the composer duo may be two different individuals but have always had a single identity as Sajid-Wajid. It was last year when Wajid Khan passed away due to a kidney ailment and complications of COVID-19. In an interview, Sajid Khan shares the reason behind why he is determined to keep his brother alive through his name.
Speaking with ETimes, Sajid Khan said that now his name is Sajid-Wajid and it will remain like that till the end. He said, “I don’t want people to call me Sajid Khan, so I have adopted Wajid as my surname. Now, my name is Sajid Wajid and that’s how it will be till the end. So what if he isn’t physically present, I feel his presence all the time.” Talking about work, the music composer added, “I have started composing tunes I never thought I would and I think it’s because of him. I feel that Wajid is with me during those times.”
Sajid Khan also shared how his bond with his brothers is very close. Remembering Wajid Khan’s last days, Sajid revealed that he had gone to meet his brother at the hospital, wearing a PPE kit, much against everyone’s advice. He shared, “I was so close to Wajid that I met him in the ICU wearing the PPE kit much against everyone’s advice.” Sajid added, “There came a point when I thought if I had to go, I would go with him, but not without seeing him or being by his side. It is extremely difficult to fill that void.” The music composer continued, “After I lost him, I told Salman (Khan) bhai, ‘The day I feel I don’t have the fire in me, I will tell you that I am done’. He has been a great support and saw me through the difficult phase. The confidence I feel today and the fire inside me is burning even more.”
Sajid Khan shared how Salman Khan was a great support to him and mentioned how the actor saw the music composer through his difficult phase. Meanwhile, Sajid Khan is currently a judge on a reality TV singing show. He is judging the contestants on Indian Pro Music League.
