Salman Cheers For PV Sindhu On Her Olympic Win

PV Sindhu made India proud by bagging the silver medal in the badminton singles at Rio Olympics 2016 yesterday. Bollywood was quick to shower the champion with love and praise (Akshay, Deepika, Anushka, Alia congratulate PV Sindhu on her silver Olympic win, Aug 19).
Salman Khan too took to Twitter to share his joy about her victory. The Sultan actor stated that he is feeling “proud” of her win. He even added how he saw the final with his mother and boasted to her about having a picture with Sindhu.
A few days ago, Salman announced that he will be awarding Rs 1,01,000 to all the athletes who are representing India at the on-going Olympics, as a token of his appreciation (Salman Khan to award Rs 1 lakh to each Indian Olympian, Aug 17).
Salman is the Indian contingent’s Goodwill Ambassador for Rio Olympics and you may remember that his appointment had sparked off a huge controversy. Many from the sports fraternity were divided over the Government‘s decision to make an actor the ambassador of the world’s biggest sporting event.
On his part, Sallu had justified his ambassadorship saying that he was a sportsperson in spirit. He had questioned, “All the kids who have tried out certain sports and haven’t won a medal, aren’t they sportspersons? All the kids who follow a sportsperson aren’t sportspersons? So why just pick me?”
