Salman Khan To Make A Guest Appearance In Sooraj Barjatya's Oonchai, Starring Amitabh Bachchan And Anupam Kher
For those out there wondering if Sooraj's favourite actor Salman Khan will go missing from his cinema this time, as he did in Sooraj's Vivah and Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, here is a reassuring news.
They have worked in several films together. But, now, for the first time Sooraj Barjatya has cast Amitabh Bachchan and Anupam Kher as best friends for life in his next movie, Oonchai (height).
But for those out there wondering if Sooraj's favourite actor Salman Khan will go missing from his cinema this time, as he did in Sooraj's Vivah and Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, here is a reassuring news. Salman Khan will make a very important guest appearance in this highly emotional film about friendship between two men played by Bachchan and Kher.
Confirming this, one of the film's protagonists told me, "Salman ke bina Sooraj dhal jaati hai."
Earlier there were reports that Boman Irani was to join Amitabh Bachchan in the film. Apparently, they were not true. A source close to the project confided in me, “The two friends are played by Bachchan Saab and Anupam ji. Whether Boman was approached at all or was it just media speculation, we don’t know.”
Oonchai marks a departure for Sooraj Barjatya from his vast cast and family dramas. The film is character-driven and will focus on the ups and downs in the friendship between the two veteran actors. While Anupam is no stranger to Barjatya’s cinema, having been a pivotal part of the cast in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, for Mr Bachchan this is the first time with Barjatya, though the director worked with Bachchan Junior in Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon.
Sooraj Barjatya has not directed a film since Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in 2015 and in his entire career as a director he has only made one film without Salman Khan (Vivah). Oonchai will be the second… Or do we see Salman popping up in a surprise appearance?
