We finally got a look at the trailer of Aamir Khan starrer Dangal today and within minutes of its release, the internet was buzzing with conversations about the sports film. But soon enough another hashtag started trending on Twitter, #BoycottDangal. It was made popular by tweeple demanding that the film be banned because Aamir Khan had expressed "anti-national" sentiments when he spoke about the rising intolerance in the country last year.
And soon enough, Sania Mirza weighed in, with a funny meme.
#BoycottDangal is trending and the discussion has not been kind to Aamir Khan.
It may have been an old conversation but Twitter once against reminded Aamir of his comments. Aamir Khan had said that he was alarmed by the rising intolerance in the country and his wife Kiran Rao feared for the safety of their child in India.
Aamir's silence on the Uri attack and the debate on the ban of Pakistani artistes in Bollywood, too was called out by Twitter users.
Will Dangal go the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil way or is the hashtag just a flash in the pan? Watch this space.
