Sanjay Dutt, who was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, will walk out of Pune’s Yerawada Jail on February 27, a few days ahead of his official date of release.
The reprieve has been granted on grounds of good behaviour. The home department has already cleared the proposal seeking remission of Dutt’s sentence.
After his furlough in January last year, the actor had reported two days late at the prison, but an inquiry concluded that it was not his fault. Instead, the jail administration has been blamed for its lapse in taking a decision regarding his return.
