Sara Ali Khan Roped In To Play Deepika Padukone’s Character Of Veronica In Cocktail 2?

Deepika Padukone’s Bollywood debut as Shanti Priya in Om Shanti Om will always be an iconic performance; however; it was her stint in the film Cocktail that got the actress a lot of accolades. Deepika’s remarkable portrayal of a badass Veronica emerged as a huge boost for her career and helped her gain some crazy fan-following. The film, directed by Homi Adjania, also starred Saif Ali Khan and Diana Penty in the lead roles and was a huge success at the box-office. Now, what if we tell you a sequel to Cocktail is being planned but… without Deepika Padukone!
As per a report in Pinkvilla, newbie Sara Ali Khan has been roped in to play Deepika Padukone’s part in the film. A source said to the portal Sara Ali Khan was approached for Angrezi Medium, however, it couldn’t happen due to her unavailability of dates. And since Dinesh Vijan, producer of the film, was quite firm on casting Sara, she has stepped into Deepika Padukone’s shoes for Cocktail 2. "Sara was almost roped in for Angrezi Medium but eventually, dates didn't work out. Dinesh Vijan really likes her screen presence and feels Sara is a brilliant performer, so he has been wanting to work with her,” said the source.
They added, “Now when Maddock Films was planning to make the next instalment in the Cocktail franchise, they bounced the idea off to Sara. The actress has liked the concept of Cocktail 2 and will mostly step into Deepika Padukone's shoes for the sequel."
Well, there hasn’t been any official announcement as of now, but it would be interesting to see a bubbly girl like Sara Ali Khan playing the character of a savage Veronica.
