Satish Kaushik Reacts To Neena Gupta's BIG Revelation About His Marriage Proposal During Her Pregnancy, Says, 'It Was An Expression Of My Affection For Her As A Friend'
Filmmaker –actor Satish Kaushik and Neena Gupta have been friends since 1975 and their bond grew stronger with the actor supporting her during her pregnancy
Actress Neena Gupta recently launched her memoir, Sach Kahun Toh giving out a lot of unknown details about her life. One of which was actor Satish Kaushik offering to marry her with she was pregnant with Masaba Gupta, so that he can be fatherly figure to Masaba. In conversation with Bombay Times, he revealed that he appreciated Neena to have a child out of wedlock and stood by her as a true friend. In addition to this, he shared that whatever Neena penned in memoir was his expression of affection for her in capacity of a friend.
He says, “I used to appreciate the fact that a girl at that time decided to have a child out of wedlock. As a true friend, I simply stood by her and gave her confidence. Whatever you are reading in the memoir, it was all an expression of my affection for her as a friend. I was concerned about not letting her feel alone. At the end of the day, that’s what friends are for, right?” Also responding the portion in her memoir when he offered to marry her, he was going through mixed emotions.
“As mentioned in the book, when I offered to marry her, it was a mix of humour, concern, respect, and support for my best friend in her time of need. I told her, ‘Main hoon na, tu chinta kyu karti hai?’ She was moved by the gesture and was in tears,” he adds.
Satish Kaushik and Neena Gupta who have been friends since 1975, their bond just became stronger, after he stood by her when she expecting Masaba, “From that day onwards, our friendship grew stronger. I am happy and proud that she is doing so well as an actor. She is a symbol of a strong woman in our society. She is now happily married to a great guy and a successful entrepreneur, Vivek Mehra and he is a great friend, too,” said the actor-filmmaker. When he was quizzed about if he knew Neena was about to share this anecdote about her life, he replied, “She told me that she was writing about her life and if I had any objection. I replied, ‘ Likh tu araam se. No problem’. I salute Nancy and the journey she has had.”
Speaking about his wife Shashi knowing about their equation he added, “My wife, Shashi, knows about my equation with Neena, who is a regular at our home. Neena Gupta and Satish Kaushik worked together in movies such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Mandi, Teree Sang and more. He revealed the actor’s knowing her family; Neena and Satish studied at Delhi University and they lived close by in Karol Bagh. Both were active members of the theatre group.
