Shah Rukh Khan On Convincing Aditya Chopra To Make ‘Pathaan’ For Him: ‘Four Years Ago, I Was Little Weak, Injuries Were There’
Shah Rukh Khan reveals how he convinced Aditya Chopra to make actioner ‘Pathaan’ after his film Zero failed at the box-office
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is all set to ablaze the silver screen with his upcoming action thriller ‘Pathaan’ which marks his comeback to films after 4 years. SRK will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar, doing high-octane action sequences. But do you know the actor had to convince Aditya Chopra to make Pathaan for him after his film Zero failed at the box office? Yes, you read that right! Shah Rukh made this revelation in an interview with cricketer Rohit Uthappa.
The Raees actor also revealed why he was keen to return with an action film despite knowing things would be difficult for him. The 57-year-old actor stated he told Aditya that he will try his best as the director was not very enthusiastic about making an action film with him. Shah Rukh was quoted as saying, “Four years ago, I was feeling a little weak, injuries were there, surgeries were there, but I thought I should do something that I haven’t done before. I should get physically very fit. I told my friend Aditya Chopra and Siddharth Anand, ‘Ek action picture banao (make an action film)’. So, they told me, ‘sir, ye aap kya keh rahe ho, aap thak jaaoge (You will get tired)’. I asked them to at least try. I told them, ‘I might not be as good as Tiger (Shroff) or Duggu (Hrithik Roshan), but I will try my best.”
The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actor went on to reveal he had initially decided to take a break for just one year. He felt very bad after Zero didn’t work and failed at the box office. On a related note, ‘Pathaan’ has stirred up controversies in regard to its first song ‘Besharam Rang’ which featured Deepika wearing a saffron-coloured bikini in a scene. Some BJP leaders from Madhya Pradesh and religious activists have a demanded ban on the film. Also, an FIR has been lodged against SRK and the film's leading lady Deepika Padukone in Mumbai. Also starring John Abraham, 'Pathaan 'is slated to hit the theatres on 25 January 2023.
