After a long lockdown period, cinemas are all set to reopen, which has got the filmmakers announcing the release dates of their movies. While makers of Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj, Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera, Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey and Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar have locked their dates, it seems like Shah Rukh Khan will have to wait a little longer to witness the superstar weave magic on silver screen. As per reports in the media, SRK’s next Pathan which was set to release in Diwali 2021, will be pushed ahead.
Hence, now the film is speculated to release in 2022’s first quarter instead of 2021. The reason behind this change in the release date is hinted at Akshay Kumar starrer Prithviraj which will be releasing in Diwali 2021. After Zero in 2018, Pathan will be marking SRK’s comeback on the silver screen, also it marks his fourth film with Deepika Padukone. The duo was earlier seen in Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year. Meanwhile, marking first collaboration with John Abraham, the actor plays the villain's role in the movie.
However, confirmation on the same is awaited from the makers.
As per reports in the media, Salman Khan was said to be joining Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone for the movie's climax scene.
Besides this 2021 has Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra starrer, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar set to release on March 19, 2021. Next to release in 2021 is Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji starrer, Bunty Aur Babli 2 on April 23, 2021.
