It’s time to reminisce college romance as the makers of Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao’s Ishq Vishk (2003) are gearing up for its sequel. Ishq Vishk, which marked Shahid’s debut saw him romancing two actresses- Amrita Rao and Shehnaz Treasury. The movie was helmed by Ken Ghosh. After Student of the Year, Hindi Medium, Housefull, Sadak and Chashme Baddoor, the makers have plans of a second part for the 2003 romcom.
Confirming the news to Mumbai Mirror, producer Ramesh Taurani said, “Yes, we are making a sequel to Ishq Vishk. The story is in scripting stage and could be about a teenage romance or a college romance. Hopefully, in the next two-three months, we will lock the script and start looking for the director and cast.”
“When we got Ken on board, he had suggested two-three different concepts which would have required established stars and didn’t really impress me. Then, he came up with an idea to be headlined by newcomers, which we really liked and green lit the project. We worked really hard on the film, the entire process from the first pitch to the wrap took us a year,” added Taurani.
The filmmaker also revealed the first time he met Shahid Kapoor. The Batti Gul Meter Chalu actor had first appeared in the Aryans’ music video Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra alongside Hrishitaa Bhatt in 1999. He told Mirror, “He was very young then, so I asked him to wait for two-three years before I could launch him. When Ken narrated the final story of Ishq Vishk to me, I told him that I had a hero who fits the part and introduced him to Shahid.”
Further, Taurani told Mirror, “After watching it, Aziz (Mirza, filmmaker) uncle had said, ‘Yeh director college gaya hai lagta hai, sahi picture banai hai.’ That was a big compliment.”
