Shahid Kapoor Finally Opens Up On Kabir Singh Facing Criticism; Bashes Critics And Movie Haters
Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh has been steadily earning at the box-office even five weeks after its release and will soon touch the Rs 300cr mark if the trend continues. Though the film has been received well at the box-office, it also attracted a lot of debate among the audience and certain critics for Shahid's portrayal of an angry man. Now the society is divided into two halves, while one portion agreed to Shahid's violent trait of his character Kabir Singh, the other half is highly against it for slapping Preeti his onscreen ladylove portrayed by Kiara Advani.

In an explosive interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actor openly bashed the critics as he said, "Who are we to judge characters? Why do we judge characters? It’s so hypocritical. When you see people do such things in Hollywood, you are all praise, but if the same thing is done in Bollywood, you are bashing it. At least have the same standard.” The actor was upset with the critics for ignoring the other aspects of the movie such as cinematography, music, etc but went to bash the actor and movie solely because of the major flaws his role had.

He further added, “If Kabir hadn’t slapped Preeti (Kiara’s character), would everything else that he did be okay? Because he slapped the girl, you feel that is unacceptable and that Kabir Singh is an unacceptable character. We want you to feel this is unacceptable, his behaviour has gone beyond control.”

Appreciating the audience this time for a perfect review he said, “That is why for the first time in movies that I remember, the reviewers have been reviewed by the audience.”

Kabir Singh which is a Bollywood remake of Arjun Reddy has so far earned Rs 271cr approx. at the box-office.
