Mission Mangal is based on India’s mission to Mars, and the effort taken by the brilliant minds behind the space mission. The film Mission Mangal is based on the true story of the Indian Space Research Organisation’s Mars Orbiter Mission. The film stars Akshay Kumar essaying the role of Rakesh Dhawan while Vidya Balan enacts the part of Tara Shinde. The duo is joined by a brilliant team of scientists comprising of Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari and Nithya Menen. Together, they all embark on a next to the impossible mission of infusing home science and sending a satellite to Mars in their very first attempt, a feat achieved by no other nation.


Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal is scheduled to release on August 15, 2019
