Shahid Says ‘No’ To Endorsing A Baby Oil Brand. Why?

There’s nothing new about brands vying to get top actors/actresses as their ambassadors. Be it flip-flops, undergarments, ready-to-eat food, soaps, fairness creams or deodorants, advertisers always rope in reigning stars to reach out to consumers.

Brands also try and capitalise on phases that stars go through in their personal lives. The latest case in point is a leading baby oil brand, which reportedly approached Shahid Kapoor, requesting him to endorse their product.

The timing couldn’t be better. Shahid and his wife Mira Rajput became the parents of a baby girl less than a month ago, on August 26 (Shahid Kapoor Is The Proud Papa Of A Baby Girl, Aug 26). However, Sasha has reportedly refused the offer. Wonder why? Read on.

Says a source close to the brand, “Mothers have always endorsed baby products, but for a change, we decided to have a father do the same. Also today, both parents are equal partners when it comes to bringing up children. In our eyes, Shahid was the best person to endorse our product, but he politely refused.”

Was it because of money? The source adds, “No, Shahid does not wish to commercialise fatherhood. We totally respect his decision and have moved on.”

And, guess who they approached after Shahid? Reports suggest, mommy-to-be Kareena Kapoor. Will Kareena take up the offer? Let’s wait and watch.
