Shashi Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Pankaj Kapur Pay Last Respects To Om Puri
The sudden death of Om Puri has shocked the film fraternity and the grief was palpable as Bollywood stars, including Vidya Balan and Irrfan Khan, gathered to say their last goodbyes to the icon
Om Puri's residence, Trishul Apartments in Versova, was crowded with grieving faces as his colleagues gathered to take one final look at the actor, before his body was taken to the crematorium.
His teary eyed second wife, Nandita was spotted speaking to those who had gathered to pay their last respects.
Shashi Kapoor, who is wheel-chair bound and is rarely seen in public these days, made an exception for the deceased actor who co-starred with him in the Ivory Merchant film Muhafiz.
Govind Nihalani, who directed Om Puri in the two cult classic film Ardh Satya and Aakrosh, looked sombre as he walked in to say goodbye to his favourite collaborator.
Shabana Azmi, dressed in white, walked in with Javed Akhtar. Pankaj Kapur and wife Ratna Pathak too arrived to pay their condolences to the grieving family.
Irrfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Illa Arun, Arya Babbar, Johnny Lever too joined the gathering.
After a few hours, the family decided to let the crowd into the apartment complex so that they can pay too can bid adieu to the acting powerhouse. Once the gates opened, the crowd rushed in with garlands and wreaths for the deceased icon.
Om Puri passed away this morning at the age of 66 after a cardiac arrest.
