Shilpa Shetty Gets Trolled For Fishing, Reminded Of PETA Award

Shilpa Shetty, who is currently vacationing in Maldives with husband Raj Kundra and son Viaan Kundra, was trolled for fishing.

The actress took to social media to share a video of catching an inedible fish and releasing it thereafter. She captioned the clip, “Realised “Fishing” ain’t that easy... not my thing at least!!This beauty got caught in our hook( not the kind to eat) so we released it🤦🏻‍️But my son caught the most whilst @rajkundra9 says he already has the best “catch”  #deepseafishing #kanhuraresort #memories #fishingexpedition #instagood #maldives #releasedthefish”

Soon after posting the video, Mrs. Kundra began being trolled for being cruel to animals. However, a few loyal fans defended the act talking about the ‘food chain.’

One of the comments read, “Please don’t kill any living creature #theshilpashetty”

Another one said, “Don't play with nature life. Why people says don't hurt animals.”

A netizen wrote, “Hey... as far as I understand...catch and release...doesnt really work. This is because the fish gets injured in the hook, so even if it does live when you catch it. It s more likely to die...owing to injury, trauma or will end up as a live bait for predators. ”

A few trolls also reminded her of the time when she was awarded with a 'Hero to Animals' Award by animal rights organisation PETA in December 2017, for speaking out against the cruelty of circuses.

“@petaindia did she even deserved "hero to animals " award ?” wrote a user.

“Wasn't she awarded by @peta or something?” another troll wrote.

Those who defended her said that food choices should be respected. One comment read, “Yes IT IS food chain my dear. And we non vegetarians will fish all we want n eat fish all we want. God made us that way. All animals are part of the food chain. Just we humans are the thinking animals so we get to make choices. Some choose to eat meat some vegetables and some are vegans like you. We respect your choice and please you respect ours.”

Another defender wrote, “Now people will have problem with this. They will call it every thing possible. Every superlative will be used just to prove Thier Hippocracy #whereareweheadedto and Shilpa ji have a great time and enjoy the life god be with u”
