Vivek Agnihotri to release The Kashmir Files: Unreported after Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid deemed it a propaganda and vulgar film
Ever since the release of The Kashmir Files earlier this year, Vivek Agnihotri has made headlines for voicing out his opinions on the movie, Bollywood actors, and their work cultures. Known to never mince his words, he has now announced his next project, ‘The Kashmir Files: Unreported’. His decision comes after Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid called the movie a propaganda and vulgar film.
He made the comment about the Anupam Kher starrer during the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Reacting to his comments, Vivek took to his social media platform to announce the upcoming project. He shared that he would quit filmmaking if someone proved that any shot, event, or dialogue from the film was not true. He said, "I challenge all these urban naxals and the legendary filmmaker who came from Israel, that if they can prove any single shot, event or dialogue is not completely true then I will quit filmmaking. The 49-year-old filmmaker announced his upcoming venture during an interaction with Aaj Tak. He said that he is determined to share all the stories he has collected while researching for his film. He promised that he would release the project by the end of this year. He said, "I am determined now and I am making an announcement... We have many stories, anecdotes, truths from which we could have made 10 films instead of one. But we decided to make only one film. But now, I have decided that I will bring out the whole truth and its title will be The Kashmir Files: Unreported. Aur yeh main isi saal ke andar andar leke aunga, yeh maine aaj drar nishchay karliya hai (I will bring it within this year, I am determined now.)"
He further shared that he will soon let the audience know if the project will be released in a web-series format or documentary format. Talking about bringing out the entire truth, Vivek shared, "Now this subject is beyond art and is more about the reputation of this country. It is my moral responsibility that whatever information, proof I have with me and what all people have said, I bring them out and present it in front of people so they know the entire truth." For the unversed, the movie narrates the story of the Kashmiri Pandits in the valley in the 1990s. It went on to become one of the highest-grossing movies in Bollywood in 2022.
