Shruti Haasan Denies Being An Alcoholic; Says Her Comment About Being Sober Was ‘Blown Out Of Proportion’
Recently, on a chat show, Shruti Haasan revealed that she doesn’t drink anymore and that she has a sober life now. Soon, reports surfaced on the Internet claiming that she is an alcohol addict and now, the actress has said that she isn’t an alcoholic and that her statement was blown out of proportion
Shruti Haasan recently made the headlines for her comment about being sober on a chat show. Shruti, who is the daughter of legendary actor Kamal Haasan, in interaction with popular host Lakshmi Manchu on her chat show, the actress made some really personal confessions, and also talked about drinking. Shruti admitted to being a whiskey lover and also added, “I don’t drink anymore. It’s been two years. I live a sober life now.” Soon after this comment, reports surfaced on the Internet claiming that she is an alcohol addict.
Now, Shruti Haasan has said that she is not an alcoholic and that her statement was just blown out of proportion. While talking to Hindustan Times about the same, she said, “On the chat show, I mentioned that I don’t drink anymore and that I am sober. And the next thing I know is that it was blown out of proportion.” She further added that drinking is a part of today’s culture and that there is no stigma attached to it. She said that she wants to live a sober life and does not want to do it anymore, however she doesn’t judge people who drink. She further added, “People don’t even admit that they have ever had a drink, which is ridiculous in 2019. And then, when I say I want to lead a sober life and not have that glass of wine, why is this turned into something else?”
Shruti Haasan has been a part of several Bollywood films and is very popular in the South. Shruti Haasan also talked about her Hollywood web series Treadstone, in which she has a cameo and said that she is excited about the response to the series and she always wanted to be a part of a Jason Bourne show.
