Actor Sidharth Malhotra is mourning the loss of his father, Sunil Malhotra, who passed away on February 14, 2026 after a prolonged illness, leaving the family deeply saddened. Sunil, a former Merchant Navy captain, had been unwell for some time and was reportedly cared for by his family as his health declined. Upon hearing the devastating news, Sidharth, who was in Mumbai with his wife, Kiara Advani, and their newborn daughter, immediately travelled to Delhi to be with his loved ones and participate in the final rites, which were attended by close family members.
Taking to his official Instagram, Sidharth shared a collection of cherished photographs from various stages of his life with his father — from childhood moments to more recent times — and paired them with an emotional tribute that revealed the depth of his loss and admiration. He began by describing Sunil as “a man of rare honesty, integrity and culture,” someone who upheld values that “never bent,” practised “discipline without harshness,” and showed “strength without ego,” even in the face of life’s toughest challenges.
Sidharth reflected on his father’s resilience, writing that from “commanding the seas as a Merchant Navy Captain to facing illness with quiet courage,” Sunil never compromised and maintained his grace, even after a stroke confined him to a wheelchair.
In the heartfelt note, the actor wrote, “Papa, your integrity is my inheritance. Your strength guides me every day. Your positivity still holds this family together. You left us peacefully in your sleep, but the space you leave behind is immeasurable. I am who I am because of you. And I will carry your name, your values and your light forward always. Love you Dad.”
