Robert Duvall, Oscar Winner And ‘Godfather’ Icon, Dies At 95: Wife Luciana Confirms
Legendary Hollywood actor Robert Duvall, best known for his iconic performances in The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, has died at the age of 95. His passing was confirmed on Monday by his wife, Luciana Duvall, in a heartfelt message on social media, revealing that he passed away peacefully at their home, surrounded by love and comfort.

In her tribute, Luciana described the late actor as “my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time,” adding that to the world he was “an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller.” She emphasized that to her he was “simply everything,” saying his passion for his craft was matched by his deep affection for rich characters, good food, and the joy of spending time with others. She wrote that for each role he took on, Bob poured his heart into embodying characters and conveying the truth of the human spirit, creating a legacy that is “lasting and unforgettable.”

Duvall’s film career spanned more than seven decades and included some of cinema’s most revered roles. He earned widespread acclaim for portraying the calm, trusted consigliere Tom Hagen in The Godfather and its sequel, and for his unforgettable depiction of Lieutenant Colonel Bill Kilgore in Apocalypse Now, where his performance delivered some of the most quoted moments in film history. He also won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Tender Mercies (1983) and received multiple Oscar nominations throughout his career.

Off-screen, Duvall’s influence extended beyond acting into directing and writing projects, and he remained a deeply respected figure in Hollywood until his final years. His family has asked for privacy as they grieve and celebrate his remarkable life.
