Sooryavanshi: Akshay Kumar And Katrina Kaif Starrer's Multiplex Release Stalemate Continues; Film To Be Postponed?
Looks like Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer's release date is still not decided as the discussions between Rohit Shetty and the multiplex owners aren't reaching any solid ground.
There seems to be no end to the stalemate regarding the release of Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi . A series of meetings with multiplex owners have yielded no satisfactory results. And it seems unlikely that the long-awaited film will release on April 2, as reported earlier.
According to reliable sources the Sooryavanshi producers are not particularly keen on releasing Sooryavanshi only in single theatres and on the OTT platform.
“Leaving out the multiplexes would mean a serious, dent in the film’s box office revenues. The producers Reliance Entertainment and Rohit Shetty would rather postpone the release even more instead of going ahead with the release without the multiplexes,” the source informs.
It was earlier reported by a portal, "They have held back on the films’ release for almost a year and were always committed to bring it in the cinema halls. However, it’s an expensive film and no one wants to release it in a manner that results in a loss of income. It’s time for the multiplexes as well to understand the plight of team Sooryavanshi. Since multiplexes are not agreeing to the terms put forth by Rohit Shetty, and Reliance, team Sooryavanshi has finally decided to release the film in the cinema halls on April 2. However, the catch here is, he would bring the film only in the single screens and non-national multiplex chains, and bypass the big five national chains of PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, and Carnival.”
