Sridevi Wanted Janhvi To MARRY After Finishing Studies... But Later Excitedly Readied Her For Bollywood
Yes, that's true. And we all parents do that if and when we are not in accordance with our child's ambitions. It happened with Sridevi too. Here's the story...
It was the last day of shoot for her comeback film
English Vinglish. And Sridevi told me that she wished Janhvi ties the knot and
settles down in life, when I told her that she was opposing her daughter
to join films.
She agreed to meet me. And it was thanks to her husband Boney Kapoor. He had
practically arranged the interview by himself.
Chatting in her vanity van for almost an hour, Sridevi
spoke on many topics. I was with Mumbai Mirror then.

The conversation naturally drifted to Janhvi; it was
being largely speculated those days that the Mom was not too excited about the (elder)
Beti wanting to pursue her interest of joining films.
I told her that she had become very fashion conscious (the interview in
question was published in Mumbai Mirror dated Aug 14, 2012). She smiled and
said, "Nowadays I keep abreast of fashion, thanks to Janhvi. She and I
enjoy talking about the latest trends. Khushi joins in as well. She wants to be
involved in every conversation. We are like friends now (smiles)."

Since she had brought in Janhvi into the chat, I instantly grabbed the
opportunity to say: And you don't want Janhvi to get into films. Pat came
the reply, "I am perturbed by the rumours about her getting ready for
films. She hasn't even decided what she wants to do in life. Right now, I want
her to concentrate on studies. When she completes her studies, ideally I would
like her to get married and settle down. Dekhte hain aage... "
Aur aage hua yeh that the indulgent mother deep-dived
into extending support to her badi beti.

How it happened we don't know but I guess it was a case of a normal parent who
never lets his child down and makes the child's ambition his/her own.
Guiding her at every stage in clothes, scripts, fitness
and make-up, Sridevi readied Janhvi to become the cynosure of all eyes, until
Karan Johar decided that this was the girl he wanted opposite Ishaan Khatter in
the remake of Sairat.

Until she breathed her last, Sridevi continued to mentor
the young girl. Goes without saying that Janhvi has lost someone whom she will
miss at every stage in her film career.
