Student Of The Year 2: Gul Panag Steps Into Ronit Roy’s Shoes As Sports Coach
Gul Panag, who has just become a mother to a baby boy, will play the sports coach in Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday starrer Student Of The Year 2. The character was portrayed by Ronit Roy in the first part of the franchise
Gul Panag gave the world a surprise a few weeks back when she announced that she was blessed with a boy. She made headlines with her revelations about motherhood and why she decided to keep the baby news a secret for over 6 months. Now, she has another surprise in store for fans. She has been signed on to play the sports coach in Punit Malhotra's Student Of The Year 2, which stars Tiger Shroff and mark the debuts of Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday.
A source told Mumbai Mirror, “The team was looking for an extremely fit actress who was comfortable riding a bike and could play a sports coach to the new ‘students’. Gul quickly lost weight after her delivery and began shooting in May, joining the team during the film’s Mussoorie schedule and in Dehradun, where it was shot at FRI (Forest Research Institite) which was converted into Saint Teresa school for the shoot.” Reports also suggest that Gul has a sporty look and will be dominated by shorts and tights.
Ronit Roy played a similar sports coach in the first installment of the film which starred Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Not just this, even Samir Soni has stepped into the shoes of the school principal, which was played earlier by Rishi Kapoor.
SOTY 2 was slated to hit theatres later this year on November 23, but was recently pushed to next year May 10. The film’s shoot began in April and is set to wrap-up by September end. The team will be travelling to Dehradun and Mussoorie once again after completing the ongoing patchwork in Mumbai.
