Sunny Kaushal On Doing Music Videos: ‘It’s A Different Kind Of Filmmaking School’-EXCLUSIVE
It’s been almost two years since Sunny Kaushal’s last film project. He was last seen opening theatres in 2020 with Bhangra Paa Le, his debut as a leading actor. After that, he was seen in the web series, Kabir Khan’s The Forgotten Army, later in the same month. But then the pandemic came and derailed all plans and announcements.

Sunny’s next film release was supposed to be Shiddat opposite Radhika Madan. However, it got delayed due to Covid. The film, also featuring Mohit Raina and Diana Penty, is now slated to release direct-to-OTT on October 1, ending Sunny’s long hiatus from the screen.

But the actor didn’t let all this time go to waste, as he tried on a different avenue. Sunny was seen in three music videos during this gap. His first music video was Taaron ke Shehar, with Neha Kakkar. Then he was seen in Dil Lauta Do and recently he was seen in the video, Ishq Mein with Sahher Bambba.

Ask Sunny how this experience helped him in improving his acting skills, and he shares, “It’s a different kind of filmmaking school. In a movie, there is a character arc and you play according to that. Your character has a journey. Here, the song has a journey as per the concept. The songs that I have done so far have had a story—a start, a middle and an end. To perform what you would in two hours, into just five minutes, requires a lot of emotional jumping. It’s a different art altogether to be able to understand. I remember when I did my first music video, Taaron Ke Shehar, I didn’t understand anything at all. I was so surprised and shocked with the technical jargon that comes into your mind, but now I have eased into it.”

Apart from Shiddat, Sunny also has completed Hurdang with Nushrratt Bharuccha and Vijay Varma. He is also reportedly starring opposite Yami Gautam in Chhor Nikal Ke Bhaaga, opposite Janhvi Kapoor in Milli, and then he also has Nakhrewali with Aanand L Rai.
