The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking an independent probe into the case of renowned actress Sridevi, who passed away due to accidental drowning on February 24, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The plea was filed by an Uttar Pradesh resident for an independent probe into the “mysterious death” of Sridevi.
A Bench three-judge headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra dismissed the plea filed by one Sunil Singh who sought an independent investigation into the death of the actor. He said the actor died under suspicious circumstances.
He moved the apex court after the Delhi High Court had refused to entertain his PIL to probe her death on March 9, saying authorities in India and Dubai had already looked into the incident.
Sridevi's unfortunate death that shook whole industry, occurred when the actress was in Dubai to attend a family wedding - Sonam Kapoor's cousin Mohit Marwah with Antara Motiwala. She had chosen to stay back while her husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor had returned to Mumbai after the wedding.
