Sushant Singh Rajput death due to suicide has called for attention on mental health in the country. Actor Ayushmann Khurrana who too began his career with a TV channel and then made his way into films admitted of not being in touch with the late actor for the past year during his conversation with Time Maga. News of his untimely death left the Dream Girl actor shocked. The actor in conversation with Time Magazine also mentioned having a feeling kinship with the late actor as they both made a successful transition from TV to films, when it was difficult.

 “It is really unfortunate, and I have known him since my TV days. I think we were one of the few actors who made that shift from television to films in India, which is not easy," said the actor. Also, just like many others who mentioned social media posts doesn’t really give a clear perspective of what’s going on in the mind of an individual, the actor too agreed with the same.  “You never know what is going on behind that smile, or that social media post,” he adds. 

Talking about how much importance do people give to mental health in the country he said, “We don’t take mental health seriously. In India, we are very callous about it. Till the time there is a real, physical disease, they don’t raise an issue about it. They don’t realise that a person could be terminally mentally ill, and just putting up a facade for the outside world.”
