Sushmita Sen Mourns Miss Universe 1995 Chelsi Smith’s Death

Miss Universe 1995 Chelsi Smith, who succeeded Miss Universe Sushmita Sen in 1994, passed away at the age of 45 after battling with liver cancer. Sushmita, who had crowed her Miss Universe in 1995, took to social media to mourn her death.

Posting a picture form the crowing ceremony, she wrote, “I loved her smile & that generous spirit!!! Rest in peace my beautiful friend @Chelsi_Smith #MissUniverse1995 Dugga Dugga.” Shanna Moakler, who stood runner-up at the 1995 pageant, also shared a few pictures and posted a heartfelt message. Her tweet read, “Tonight I will be playing poker for @CancerFreeGen in honor of my dear friend @Chelsi_Smith who I lost today to cancer. I am heartbroken. Godspeed beautiful. You were my friend and a light. I love and will miss you more then you will never know. The epitome of a Queen.”

Smith, who died of liver cancer was also Miss Galveston County in 1994 and had featured in various shows and films. Her death has come as a shock to fans. Apart from being Miss Universe, Chelsi Smith was also a successful model, a television show host and also a singer. She featured in films like Playas Ball, Saladin Patterson's short film One Flight Stand. Chelsi also participated as a celebrity contestant on the American television show, Wheel of Fortune.
