If you were among those who read and believed the news in a leading tabloid, this morning, suggesting that Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar starrer, Womaniya has been stalled, then it’s time you erase that and know the truth. Womaniya is very much happening and will go on floors next month.
After reading the news, SpotboyE.com sprung into action and dug out from a reliable source close to the film, that the news about it being put on the backburner is untrue. We then contacted Anurag Kashyap, who is also co-producing (creative) the film, to know the exact status. And this is what he replied, “Shoot will begin on Feb 10. Reliance is producing the film and Tushar Hiranandani is the director. I am the co-creative producer.”
Clearly, the news about the film not getting a financer is baseless as according to Anurag Kashyap Reliance is on board.
Womaniya is a story on UP-based octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar. It will be shot in Uttar Pradesh and the ladies will be shooting with some antique weapons.
Taapsee and Bhumi are collaborating for a film for the first time. Both belong to the highly content-driven cinema space. Interestingly, SpotboyE.com broke the news of Bhumi Pednekar stepping in Kartik Aaryan-Ananya Panday starrer Pati, Patni Aur Woh, the same film Taapsee was ousted from, overnight. The Manmarziyaan actress had also expressed big disappointment about being replaced in the film overnight. It will be interesting to see the actresses come together for this project, which BTW, is NOT stalled!
