Taapsee Pannu Replaced Overnight In Pati, Patni Aur Woh Remake; Actress Is “Disheartened” And “Demands An Answer”
Taapsee Pannu is in shock as it has come to her notice from outside that she has been dropped out of the remake of Pati Patni Aur Woh overnight. The actress is highly disappointed but says she has learnt a lesson
A few days back, reports were abuzz that Kartik Aaryan is set to step into Sanjeev Kumar’s shoes for the remake of 1978 hit Pati Patni Aur Woh, and Taapsee Paanu will be playing the leading lady in the film. But, the latest news related to the remake is that the Pink actress has been dropped as the leading actress, that too without being informed.
Taapsee spoke to Mumbai Mirror and revealed that more than being dropped from the film she is upset about not being informed about it. The actress told the leading tabloid, “I was at the narration in November, in the presence of Juno and Abhay (Chopra, the film’s producers). I liked the script and gave it the go-ahead. I was asked to clear my schedule and I complied. Only the clauses remained to be negotiated. But they suddenly vanished.”
She further added, “I just wish I had known this a little earlier because I would have cleared my schedule (for some other project). I had taken away dates from another film to accommodate the remake. I did it because I was keen on doing the film as Mudassar has contemporised the original story,”
Moreover, when she was asked if she has given a reason for being dropped, she said, “Poor Mudassar also hasn’t been given a reason for it. He was just asked to ‘take someone else’. When I tried to confront the producers, I wasn’t given a proper reason. As much as I have been trying to get some clarity on the matter, they have been putting the conversation off, which is very weird.”
Wonder if her remuneration was a problem and she said, “The money part had not even been discussed for it to be a problem. I assumed that I was the first choice since the director narrated the script to me first. After moving my dates, I think it would have been better if I was informed about the development instead of finding out about it from others. I deserve an answer. This is disheartening. I wish such a thing never happens to another actor,” she rues, reiterating that it is “a good part, so good luck to whoever is going to do it”.
This has surely been an eye-opener for the actress. Taking it as a learning lesson, she concluded saying, “I am going to be careful about signing films before celebrating a good script. This has been an eye-opener.” We wonder what would have been the real reason to replace the actress, a star kid?
