The Coronavirus pandemic is proving to be a tough time for many, especially for the economically weaker sections of the society who have been rendered jobless. We see news day in, day out about migrant workers desperately wanting to reach their villages and walking kilometers on end in the rising heat to make it possible. Many of these workers are stuck in different parts of the country and are struggling for food and shelter amid lockdown, after being rendered jobless due to the crisis. Amid this, Taapsee Pannu’s social media post saying ‘the struggle is real’ after her air conditioner stopped working, hasn’t gone down well with a lot of people.
Taapsee Pannu took to her Instagram story to share a video clip of her saying that her AC isn’t working amid lockdown and since they aren’t allowed to get a person to repair it at home, she managed to get it temporarily fixed. In the video we can see her tying pieces of cloth to the AC with a bucket at the bottom, collecting the leaking water. The text on the video clip read, “The struggle is real.” Netizens slammed her for her tone-deaf post at a time when thousands of migrant workers are in crisis.
Replying to an article by Hindustan Times, one user wrote, “May b she is not aware about our Migrating workers..turn off ur AC & switch on TV - struggle dek jayega mam,” while another user wrote, “Struggle word ka mazak bana ke rakha hai.” Another comment read, "Seriously!
