Kangana Ranaut recently wrapped up the shoot for film Thalaivi and shared pictures from the last day of the shoot. Kangana plays the role of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa and the film is a biopic based on her life. In an interview with Navbharattimes, the Roja actress Madhoo Shah opened up her playing the role of MGR’s wife Janaki in the Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi. Talking about her role in the film Thalaivi, Madhoo shared that she is playing MGR’s wife Janaki Ramachandran. She went on and mentioned that she has never met Janaki Amma in real life, but recalled the time she met with the late Jayalalithaa. Shah revealed that Jayalalithaa was the one who gave her the State Award for her performance in the film Roja. The Roja actress also shared that Jayalalithaa also went on stage to share how she had liked her performance in the Mani Ratnam movie.
Speaking about Thalaivi director AM Vijay, Madhoo Shah mentioned that he had already done a lot of research for each character. She mentioned that the director kept all the nuances required to play the role of MGR’s wife Janaki and revealed she is just following the instructions given by AM Vijay. Moving on, Madhoo Shah mentioned she has started shooting for her part in Thalaivi and revealed that so far, she has shot a scene, where Janaki comes close to MGR’s mortal remains after his demise. Shah said she is working hard on her emotions as MGR’s wife Janaki was very sober and emotional too.
Meanwhile, actor Arvind Swamy plays the role of MGR in the movie, while Prakash Raj plays M. Karunanidhi. Currently, the shooting of Thalaivi, which was stalled due to the pandemic has resumed.
