After introducing the look of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh (played by himself), Anupam Kher has unveiled the looks of Aahana Kumra and Arjun Mathur who are essaying the role of Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi respectively in the film, The Accidental Prime Minister. Taking to social media, Anupam Kher captioned the photo as, “Introducing @arjun__mathur as #ShriRahulGandhi and @aahanakumra as #MsPriyankaGandhi.🙏 #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister @tapmofficial #2004 #OathCeremony #VijayGutte @sunil_s_bohra”
In the picture, Anupam Kher looks engrossed in conversation with Aahana (Priyanka Gandhi), while Arjun (Rahul Gandhi) looks on.
Talking about their look, Aahana and Arjun hold an uncanny resemblance to their real-life counterparts. Talking about her role in the movie, Aahana earlier told the Indian Express, “I am beyond excited to play this role. It is important that we get the look right because a lot of characters from this movie are real people from our system.”
A few days back, the actor had also unveiled the look of Atal Bihari Vajpayee played by Ram Avatar Bhardawaj and ex-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s reel-wife Mrs. Gursharan Kaur played by Divya Seth Shah.
Talking about the film, The Accidental Prime Minister is based on the book with the same name. It is a 2014 memoir by Indian policy analyst Sanjaya Baru, who was Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's media advisor from May 2004 to August 2008.
Last year, the makers gave a glimpse of Anupma Kher as they revealed the first poster. He is a splitting image of the ex-Prime Minister in the poster. The film is being directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and produced by Hansal Mehta. It's all set to hit theatres in the winter of 2018.
