The American Tour Of Rock On 2 Shelved Due To Money Trouble?
Farhan Akhtar's US tour with the Magik Band from Rock On 2 had to be canned as it got no financial takers, claim reports
Reports in
certain sections of the media suggest that the much-talked about US tour of
Rock On 2 featuring cast members Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Rampal,
and Purab Kohli, has been canned.
The Magik
band was planning to perform in Houston, New Jersey and California in
mid-October (14, 15 and 16).
But as per reports, the multi-city tour was cancelled because sponsors pulled
out at the last minute.
The sponsors were worried after the film's music received a lukewarm response
and they were afraid that empty stadiums will follow. A source explained that
the Rock On franchise is not perceived as a quintessential desi film, and
Indian rock music has few takers in the US.
However, the film's spokesperson explained away the development, claiming that
it was a strategic move.
"It was a strategic decision so that Magik can plan more shows in
India," said the spokesperson, who was quoted by a
popular daily.
