The Big Music Story: Salman boycotts Arijit from all his films
Sure, Salman Khan patched up with Saif Ali Khan and his dosti with Shah Rukh Khan is getting stronger with every passing day. But if you thought the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star is all for kissing and making up, you couldn’t be more wrong. Singer Arijit Singh just can’t seem to find his way back into Sallu’s good books.

You already know how the swords were drawn at the Star Guild Awards in February 2014 where Salman was the host. Arijit had joked on stage how the actor’s hosting skills were making him fall asleep. Salman retorted saying that it was Arijit’s slow-paced song Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2 that was a snooze-fest.

What you don’t know is how that seemingly harmless episode has snowballed into a huge fight. One that is being discussed in hushed tones in the music industry.

Spotboye has it that ever since that night, Bhai had a simple diktat for all his producers – no Arijit songs please, thank you. That’s probably why you haven’t heard any Arijit number in any of Salman’s last few releases – Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

Maybe Arijit didn’t even know about it until he felt the pinch while working on Salman’s Kick.

We hear, the singer had recorded the song Tu Hi Tu last year. The moment Salman heard the song, he dialled music composer Himesh Reshammiya’s number and told him in no uncertain terms that the song should be rendered by another singer. And in came Mohammed Irfan.

You may have even missed this tiny detail – the film gave credit to Arijit for the song but it was the Mohammed Irfan version that was actually used.

And it hasn’t ended there. While other producers and music directors are keen to have Arijit on board, Salman has made sure that none of his forthcoming films have the singer crooning for him. No two ways about that.

Is Arijit feeling the heat? The singer has even extended the olive branch – he has sent the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star more than a few texts apologising for that night. But he seems to be in no mood to forgive.
