Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor turned 39 today. The actor has been off the films for almost three years and the last release that his fans witnessed was back in 2018 in the form of Sanju. To note, he has several films in the pipeline and is currently waiting for the release of his upcoming films. He will soon be seen in Shamshera, a period drama by Yash Raj Films.

The makers of Shamshera marked the special occasion of Ranbir’s birthday by announcing the release date of his upcoming film. Shamshera faced delays during production owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. With the film, the actor is all ready to grace the silver screen in an absolutely different avatar.

The adrenaline pumping entertainer will present Ranbir in a never seen before avatar and on the star’s birthday today Yash Raj Films teased his look from the project to celebrate his birthday and tell his fans that a visual spectacle is on the way. 

Taking to Instagram, YRF announced that the film will release on March 18, 2021 and even shared the first look of Ranbir’s character. In the new look, Ranbir can be seen sporting a mark on his forehead that will surely build intrigue about his look and plot of the film. The makers have built the curiosity behind the mark by calling it ‘The Mark of Shamshera’! The highly engaging teaser has taken the internet by storm!


Speaking of Shamshera, set in the 1800s pre-Independence India, the film is reportedly the Indian adaptation of Howard Pyle’s Merry Adventures of Robin Hood which also stars Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. Meanwhile, directed by Karan Malhotra, Shamshera is a part of YRF 50 celebration. The studio was founded in 1970 in Mumbai. Bunty Aur Babli 2, Prithviraj and Jayeshbhai Jordaar are also a part of Yash Raj Films’ 50-year plan.

On the work front, Ranbir will be seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ starring Anil Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Bobby Deol and Tripti Dimri. He is also shooting for Luv Ranjan’s romantic comedy with Shraddha Kapoor. He will be seen in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra with Alia Bhatt.
