1987 film Mr India, helmed by director Shekhar Kapur remains an iconic film, and it has attained a cult status in the Indian cinema. Did you know Shekhar Kapur was working on another ambitious project after that, with Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan? The film, which was titled ‘Time Machine’ was yet another sci-fi film, however, it was shelved in 1992, reportedly due to financial constraints. While the film never saw the light of the day, BTS footage of the film has surfaced on the Internet.
Time Machine featured Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon, Naseeruddin Shah and Rekha in key roles. The BTS footage, shared by Lehren, shows a young Aamir Khan revealing details about the film. He said that it would be an entertaining sci-fi film like Mr India. “It is a sci-fi fantasy movie like Mr India. It is an entertaining film with a lot of new and interesting sequences. The plot of the film is emotional. I am quite excited about this film.” Aamir also revealed, “Naseer is playing my father, Rekha is playing my mother. Raveena is the heroine of the film.”
The video also shows Shekhar Kapur sharing that the story of the film revolves around an orphan who wishes to know about his parents. A scientist makes a time machine for the orphan so that he can go back in time and meet his parents.
Meanwhile, last year, Gulshan Grover had also shared a black and white picture with Aamir Khan from the set of Time Machine. He wrote, “Aamir Khan @_aamirkhan and me in an unfinished Film #TimeMachine , directed by @Shekharkapur . Raveena Tandon @Officialraveenatandon was the leading lady.”
