Trouble in Nandita Das-Subodh Maskara’s paradise?

We were a little startled this morning when one of our top sources from Bollywood called up to tell us that Nandita Das and her husband Subodh Maskara may separate.

Gosh! Not another split. The two seemed so happy all along the 6 years of their marriage and this was the last thing we were expecting.



Promptly, we texted Nandita but she didn’t respond. Meanwhile, we also picked up the phone and dialled Maskara to hear it from the horse’s mouth.

Dismissing them as rumours, Maskara said, “Nandita and I are still living together in the same house (near Haji Ali). In fact, we were planning to go to France on a holiday with our son. Unfortunately, my father passed away 3 days ago.”

Is there smoke without fire? Is it that frequent fights between the couple in the recent past have led to tongues wagging?

Pat came his reply, “Which marriage doesn’t have its share of fights?”

But what about rumours that Nandita has been meeting divorce lawyers? Maskara hastily added, “When we got married, we told the media openly. And if we separate, even then, we will tell the media openly so that you can write the real reason. And mind you, I’m saying “if”, I’m merely speculating.”

We wish the couple continues to have marital bliss. We believe you on face value, Mr Maskara – for now. Thank you for clarifying.
